ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Latif Khosa on Monday said the government would not request the Supreme Court to hear a pending petition of former air chief Asghar Khan regarding the ISI’s alleged role in the formation of the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad. Talking to reporters, Khosa said it was up to the Supreme Court to decide whether to take up Asghar Khan’s petition for hearing or not. “There is no use crying over spilt milk”, Khosa said, adding that a specific group of people was deliberately trying to reopen old transactions, which seemed to be part of a conspiracy. Khan had filed a petition in the Supreme Court in the 1990s asking it to determine the role of the ISI and investigate the distribution of millions of rupees among some politicians by the agency in order to ensure that the PPP did not return to power in 1990 elections. According to reports, former ISI director general Lt Gen Asad Durrani had informed the Supreme Court that he had given money to politicians to “convince” them to join the IJI. masood rehman
