ISLAMABAD, Sep 4 (APP): Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Baber Friday denied the news attributed to Attorney General that President Asif Ali Zardari has extended the term of local bodies till the year end.Talking to ARY, PTV news he said Attorney General Sardar Latif Khan Khosa was misquoted as saying that the President has extended the local bodies’ term by Dec. 31, 2009 to achieve a consensus among the ruling allies on the fate of the system.
However, presidential spokesman Farhatullah Baber informed that the AG stated nothing about the extension of incumbent nazims’ terms ending next month. He said AG’s assertion was misunderstood and taken out of context.
The president has sent the summery regarding local bodies fate to law division for seeking consensus of all stakeholders.It is not correct to say that president has decided, the fact of the matter is that the president is waiting for the report of law division,he said.
