Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Saturday directed the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to early present the bill in National Assembly on the accountability of public office holders. The Prime Minister stated this while chairing a high-level meeting at the PM House, which was attended by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan, Attorney General of Pakistan Sardar Latif Khosa, MNA Begum Nasim Akhtar Chaudhry and Secretary Law and Justice. The Prime Minister asked the Parliamentary Affair ministry to present the bill titled ‘Holders of Public Offices (Accountability) Bill 2009’ approved with consensus by National Assembly’s Standing Committee so that uninterrupted process of accountability may continue in the country as required by the law. He reaffirmed his government’s firm commitment towards establishing strong institution of accountability in the country to ensure fair, transparent and judicious accountability process across the board.
