ISLAMABAD - South Asian News Agency (SANA): Attorney General, Sardar Latif Khan Khosa called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to discuss the government position in the ongoing case against the eligibility of the PCO judges.
Earlier, the Supreme Court asked the Attorney General to submit comprehensive written statement relating to the existing government’s stance on Nov. 3, 2007 action. However; Khosa already informed the court the government did not recognize the action and he would submit written statement on this issue on Wednesday (today) in the court after consultations with the higher authorities.
Therefore, Khosa discussed the matter with the PM to present the government’s stance in the court.
The sources said, PM Gilani told the Attorney General that the government did not recognize the step taken on November 3rd by then president Pervez Musharraf as PPP late chairperson Benazir Bhutto herself led countywide protest against the emergency.
The government also restored the deposed judges which also reflected the government’s point of view to this effect. PM Gilani also told the Attorney General the government is bound to follow the decision of the apex court in this regard.
