ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Latif Khosa has said that the status of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) promulgated by former President Pervez Musharraf would be revoked after abolishment of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Talking to media men at his chamber, the Attorney General said the NRO itself is not a law but amendments were made in NAB under NRO and after abolishment of NAB, the NRO would be revoked.

Responding to a question, Sardar Latif Khosa said that all political parties have agreed over the abolition of NAB, adding that it (NAB) introduced political vengeance.

He said that to fill vacant post of judges within 30 days is a legal requirement, adding that judges who were appointed on the recommendations of Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and later sacked can be appointed again. The Attorney General said that the summary of new judges from Punjab and NWFP has been prepared. Sardar Latif Khosa said that the issue of judges’ appointment in High Court would be resolved soon.

Responding to a question regarding action against former President Pervez Musharraf under Article-6, he said that the government believes in consultation and a unanimous resolution in this regard should be passed in Parliament.—Online
