ISLAMABAD, Aug 25 (APP): Attorney General for Pakistan Sardar Latif Khan Khosa Tuesday said that Article 264 of the Constitution provided protection to those who were granted relief under National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and that no such case could be reopened. Talking to reporters in premises of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General said that the issue pertaining to the NRO would come to an end after abolishment of the NAB Ordinance.

He said there was a consensus among all the political forces on the issue of abolishment of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The AG also informed that chief justices of the High Court of Sindh and Lahore High Court had forwarded names of some of the judges affected from the Supreme Court’s verdict of July 31 for re-appointment.

He said that the issue of appointment of judges in the high courts would soon be resolved. In response to a query, the Attorney General said that Constitution provided for appointment of judges in high courts within 30 days of the vacancy. To another question he said that NAB had been used as a tool of political vengeance therefore it should be abolished.
