ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Sardar Latif Khosa has said the Karsaz tragedy and murder of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed are the parts of one chain.
"UN fact finding commission could interrogate any person according to Pakistani law regarding assassination of Benazir Bhutto", he told reporters in Supreme Court building here on Thursday after meeting the UN fact-finding commission.
According to him, he thinks people regarding whom Benazir Bhutto had security reservations, are not the part of the government anyway.
"The people who carried out Liaquat Bagh tragedy were also responsible for the Karsaz tragedy", Khosa insisted.
About his meeting with the UN commission, he said he told the commission that the anti-terrorist court had to record statements of 87 persons regarding Benazir Bhutto assassination.
Being a citizen, Khosa said, it is his responsibility to share information with the commission what he had in this regard and added that the commission had six months time to complete investigation and it is working in better way.
The AG said the government has tasked the team to trace the culprits behind the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
"Benazir Bhutto was a international leader and her murder was a national tragedy, which could never be forgotten", he pointed out and added that the commission had requested for some documents, which would be provided to it.
He rejected the impression that people who had martyred Benazir Bhutto are not the part of the government in any way and the government never talked about the establishment of international tribunal regarding inquiry into BB assassination.
About the FIA investigation into the incident, Khosa said the FIA team is also watching the work of UN commission.
He said the commission could interrogate any person regarding BB assassination according to Pakistani law and the government has not given any application to the commission for interrogating former president Pervez Musharraf.
